Short runs are actually the most inefficient, IMHO, and are much more RNG sensitive since you can't camp. In general, I find that I almost always find a secret room on long runs, so there's a huge gold bonus for that too. when I needed to get my final blacksmith upgrades, I found I could pull 30-40 deeds out of a single long run on the Weald. If you're looking for heirlooms, you can also get a lot more of the ones you want on long. I'd rather do a long Veteran or even a long Apprentice than a short Champion. Short runs on Champion I find are quite risky and not very lucrative. I find long runs also tend to be more forgiving since you can double camp, so it's a bit easier to recover if you get in trouble. The gold reward for finishing the quest is massive, and you also get an ancestral trinket. You do actually end up getting more loot-the main thing is that you can stuff your inventory with better quality stuff, like a stack of 4 sapphires and 4 rubies. ![]() On Champion level, I prefer to do long runs if I can.
